She was the CIO at Mayan, the first black hair care company owned by a black woman.
Emily is now the CIO at Bansk Beauty.

Growing up
“As an older sister I always enjoyed being a little bossy. I’d give advice to my younger brother, even if he didn’t ask.”
“I’ve always been someone who needed to be in charge. Even in college I was a student manager.”

School
As a teen in high school, Emily wanted to be an ambassador to a foreign country. In college, she minored in Japanese and German, took 4 years of French, and spoke fluent Spanish. Emily went to the University of Michigan because she was drawn to their international studies program, and then went to law school at the University of Seville in Spain.

Career
“Now I can translate technical problems to the business and communicate business problems to technical resources.”
Emily is the CIO of three haircare brands: Amika, Eva-NYC, and Ethique.
